How to Clean Oven Racks

Are your oven racks covered with oil, burned foods, and other grit/grime? Then it's time for a cleaning! Here are 6 simple steps on how to clean your oven racks, using: baking soda, vinegar, a dish-towel, and your local bathtub :).

1. Remove the oven racks from the oven.

2. After placing 2 long towels onto your bathtub, place the oven racks into your bathtub (make sure your bathtub has been cleansed and sanitized before placing the oven racks inside).

3. Sprinkle at least 2 cups of baking soda onto the oven racks.

4. Pour at least 1 cup of white vinegar onto the oven racks (allow the baking soda and vinegar to sit on the oven racks for at least 20 minutes).

5. Run hot water run into the bathtub, completely submerging the oven racks. Allow the racks to sit in the bathtub for at least 8 hours.

6. Release the water from the bathtub. Take a damp dish-towel and vigorously wipe the oven racks, which should release all grit and grime.

Bonus tip:  For tough oven rack spots that are hard to remove, take a damp toothbrush and vigorously brush these spots. For even tougher oven rack spots, pour some coarse sea salt on the spot and scrub vigorously using a damp dish-towel.

And that is all! Your oven racks are now clean as a bar of soap :). Need us to clean them for you? We are proud to offer cleaning services in Starkville, MS and would be glad to help you!
